Welcome to the Cluster Headache Support Group! › Forums › Patient Stories › looking forward to a life with this
So i just turned 15 and ive been having pretty severe cluster headaches for 2 years now, i was properly diagnosed with them about a year ago when i went to the ER. I had a really bad one at school and the teacher thought i was gonna have a stroke (i couldn’t talk properly, droopy face and other similar symptoms). so what im here to ask is, how do i avoid letting them take over my life? i get them around 6 months a year atleast three or four times a week and its really starting to mess me up.. im falling behind on everything and im getting less and less time for my hobbies. what can i do to stop them?
I’m sorry to hear that you’re dealing with cluster headaches. Are you working with a neurologist who specializes in headache disorders? That’s the first step. This isn’t the kind of health problem you can manage without medical care. If you are seeing a headache specialist, please write back and let me know what treatments you have tried so I can point you toward different ideas to discuss with your doctor. If you’re not seeing a doctor, please talk to your parents about finding a good one. You can start at Finding the Right Doctor. Good luck and keep me posted!
